On Sunday, the Cowboys and Texans face off in an all-Texas matchup at Jerry World, and the two teams from the same state could not be trending in more opposite directions.
The Cowboys are on a roll, sitting second in the NFC East with a 9-3 record. While still trailing the Eagles for the division lead, Dallas has the third-best record in the NFC and is comfortably in the top Wild Card spot.
Dallas is coming off a 54-19 thrashing of the Colts on “Sunday Night Football.” The Cowboys led 21-19 entering the fourth quarter and scored 33 points in the final 15 minutes to secure an easy victory. While Dak Prescott scored three times, the running game totaled 220 yards and four touchdowns, with Tony Pollard scoring twice and Ezekiel Elliott and Malik Davis scoring once each.
The Cowboys are 3-1 since Prescott’s return from injury, with their lone loss coming in Prescott’s first game back, a 31-28 overtime loss to the Packers. Dallas has won three straight games since then, including a 40-3 thrashing of the Vikings.
The Texans, on the other hand, have the league’s worst record (1-10-1). Houston has not won a game since Week 5, and they are currently on a seven-game losing streak.
Davis Mills is back as the starter after Lovie Smith benched the second-year quarterback in favor of Kyle Allen in Week 13. The strategy failed, as the Browns defeated Allen and the Texans 27-14.
